Privacy policy
Useful measurement without following you around.
This notice covers the Detox My Mac comparison website. Detox My Mac is the project and data controller. Questions or privacy requests can be sent through the contact page by choosing “Privacy or security”.
Traffic measurement
We use a small first-party analytics system to understand whether pages receive visits and whether visitors follow product links. It records the page path, time, referring hostname, campaign parameters, broad browser and device type, and clicks on named products and placements. It does not store the request IP address, a full referring URL, file contents, email address or a cross-site advertising identifier.
A random session identifier is kept in the browser’s session storage so page views in one open tab can be counted as a session. It is discarded when that browser session ends and is not designed to recognise someone on other sites. We use these records for the legitimate interests of measuring and improving this website, detecting obvious automated traffic and understanding partner-link performance.
Affiliate links
Product buttons first pass through a Detox My Mac redirect so the product and button placement can be counted, then send the visitor to the selected developer or affiliate URL. The destination may apply its own cookies, attribution technology and privacy policy. Detox My Mac does not receive payment-card details from those destinations.
Information you provide
The contact form collects your name, email address, topic and message so we can review and respond to an enquiry. Historical early-access records, if any remain from the earlier site, may include an email address, optional first name and selected interests. Please do not submit passwords, API keys or other secrets.
Storage and providers
Contact records, the editable product catalogue and first-party analytics are stored on a private persistent disk attached to this website’s Render service in Frankfurt, Germany. Render may separately process IP addresses and ordinary request logs for hosting, reliability and security. Render is a US-based provider even though this service’s compute and disk are configured for Frankfurt.
Cookies and browser storage
The public site does not use an advertising cookie or third-party analytics cookie. Session storage is used only for the temporary analytics session described above. A secure, HttpOnly cookie is used when the site owner signs in to the private administration area; it expires after 12 hours and is not issued to ordinary visitors.
Retention
First-party traffic records are retained for up to 13 months and may then be deleted or reduced to anonymous totals. Ordinary contact enquiries are deleted within 24 months of the last exchange. Security reports may be retained for up to five years where needed to document remediation or protect users. Legal duties may require a longer period in a particular case.
Your choices and rights
Depending on applicable law, you may ask to access, correct, export, restrict or delete personal information, object to certain processing or withdraw consent. Use the contact page. You may also complain to the data-protection authority where you live.
Changes
Material changes will be dated and explained rather than silently backdated. Last updated: 12 July 2026.
